George Achola - former Nebraska running back and current President of the Husker Football Letterman’s Association - joins the Common Fans to share his remarkable story. After emigrating to the United States from Kenya as a young boy, he fell in love with football after attending an Iowa-Nebraska game. He went on to be a standout athlete at Creighton Prep and was recruited by Frank Solich to join the Big Red.
George talks about the lessons he learned from Coach Osborne, which he still carries with him to this day; his passion for giving back by volunteering in the community; and much more.
He also discusses his role at the Husker Football Letterman’s Association, where he works to help former players stay connected to the Big Red brotherhood, and also hopes to connect former players with opportunities to mentor current Huskers.
